Altmeyer Funeral Home’s inaugural blog message

The Ohio Valley is steeped in history and tradition and Altmeyer Funeral Home has been part of that history and tradition for more than 100 years.  Families who are celebrating the life of their loved ones continue to call upon us as they have for decades because they know they will be treated as family.  As we have grown, that same quality of service has been extended to many communities in the Ohio Valley area as well as other communities throughout the eastern portion of the country.

As the fourth-generation owner and operator of Altmeyer Funeral Homes, we have gone through many changes, just like the Ohio Valley, but both the community and our business have shown fortitude and innovation.  As an example, two years ago, we launched a crowdfunding website Treasured Memories Community Funding (tmcfunding.com) to better serve our families and our community.  Our website has helped raise thousands of dollars on behalf of the families we serve to support local and national organizations, as well as help families in their time of need.  We were able to raise much needed funds to help communities like Benwood after the fire at the First Church of God and many others in our communities and beyond.

Now, I am proud to introduce this blog to our area.  We will provide important and interesting information to you regularly.  Often, the blogs will be authored by our Outreach Director, Sarah Barickman, but you will also get to hear from other guest authors.  You will read about funeral preplanning, life celebrant services, personalizing your funeral, Veteran’s services, and more.  We will also post resources for grief support groups around the Ohio Valley.

It is our hope that through this blog Altmeyer Funeral Homes will provide knowledge and information to help the people we live and work with to gain insight to plan for their future, support important organizations and to get to know us better.  If there are topics you would like to learn more about. Please let us know.  As always, we are here to help and serve you.
