Anello “Ike” Liberati, 87 of Bellaire, Ohio died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, West Virginia.
He was born June 12, 1932 in Bellaire, Ohio son of the late Ginetto and Mary Pasquale Liberati.
Ike was a retired 43 year employee of the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a member of the St. John Catholic Church, Sons of Italy Lodge 754, VFW Post 626, American Legion Post 52 and former IAC all of Bellaire, Ohio, Fairpoint Polish Club, American Chemical Society and the Ohio Valley Board of Approved Football Officials, officiating football for 32 years. He was a graduate of Bellaire High School and Kent State University, and served in the US Naval Reserves.
The Liberati family wishes to express their graditude to Mr. Donald Kirsh and the entire staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tia Lynne Liberati and his brother, Rosario Liberati.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Dorothy R. “Dosie” Saunders Liberati, and sons, Anello “Smoke” (Joyce) Liberati of Bellaire, Ohio and Gio (Yvette) Liberati of Mocksville, North Carolina, sisters-in-law, Carol Saunders of Columbus, Ohio and Owena Liberati of Bel Air, Maryland. Also five grandchildren, Steve (Alicia) Liberati,Taylor Liberati, Nicholas Liberati, Brock Liberati and Alexander Liberati, great granddaughters, Alexis and Alivia and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where services will be held on Saturday at 11 am with Fr. Daniel Heusel officiating. Inurnment in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Bellaire at the convenience of the family.
Sons of Italy Lodge 754 will conduct services on Friday at 7 pm.

I am so so sorry to hear that Ike has passed. My dad loved him like a brother and I like to imagine them sharing a beer together now. I have wonderful memories of the picnics out in west Bellaire. I can still see him smiling. I hope you are all at peace and let your happy memories bring you comfort.

I first met Ike , when I was a brand new football official. As a member of, The Ohio Valley Board of Approved Football Officials. He was a friend, and mentor, to many young officials.Rest in peace.
