Ann Marie Gorza, 99, of St. Clairsville, OH died peacefully on January 2, 2018 at Forest Hill Care Center.

She was born August 25, 1918, a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Antalok Vavra. Ann grew up in Bellaire, OH and graduated from St. John’s High School. She worked as a sales associate for Sears Roebuck & Co. for many years until she married the love of her life, Carl, and enjoyed life with him as a homemaker.

Ann was a devout Catholic by faith and belonged to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville and was a member of the St. Francis Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Carl S. Gorza in 1998; a sister, Theresa H. Vavra in 2005.
Friends will be received on Friday from 10 am until 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 am with Fr. Thomas Chillog as celebrant. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

A big “Thank You” to the caring staff at Forest Hills, who looked after Ann for the past couple of years. She would always sing “You are my Sunshine” and she brought much joy to the staff.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities West Virginia 2000 Main Street, suite 200, Wheeling, WV 26003.

Dear Ones —
May God’s peace and blessings be yours during this most tender season; and, may He give you many lovely memories, so that you may always have roses in December.

Ever hoping . . .
Always in Jesus,
