Arthur D. “Buddy” Piatt, III of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away May 17, 2019.
He was born August 15. 1950 in Wheeling, West Virginia the oldest son of the late Arthur D. Piatt, Jr. and Doris Oliver Piatt.
Art, “Buddy” was a retired Credit Manager with Scott Lumber and Collection Officer with Citizens Bank of Martins Ferry. He was a member of the Bellaire Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon. “Buddy was the best listener in church, even with his eyes closed.” He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp, veteran of the Vietnam War and attained the rank of sergeant. He was a life member and past Commander of the American Legion Post 52 in Bellaire, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife Nancy E. Taggart Piatt, whom he married on April 10, 1998, his children, Christy M. Piatt of Sebring, Florida and Arthur D. (Amy) Piatt, IV of Leesburg, Virginia, stepchildren, Carly (Charles) Bell of Monterrey, California, Gretchen (Caleb) Congrove of Cambridge, Ohio and Shannon (Levi) Allen of Ruther Glen, Virginia and his first wife and mother of his children, Rose M. Piatt-Moffo, two brothers, John A. Piatt and Dan D. Piatt and two sisters, Sharon S. Johnson and Barbara A. Repan. Also fourteen grandchildren, Kyle, Jessica, Abbey, Sarah, Camryn, Stella, Charlie, Owen, Chloe, Harry, Lucy, Auggie, Finnegan and Walter and three great grandchildren, Neveah, Cameron and Rory.
Family and friends will be received for a memorial visitation and service honoring his life on Saturday, May 25 at the Bellaire Presbyterian Church, 36th and Guernsey Streets Bellaire, Ohio from 10:30 am until time of services at 11:00 am with Rev. Christina Kestner officiating. Interment in the Davis Cemetery in Bellaire, Ohio at the convenience of the family.
The Belmont County Veterans Association will conduct Full Military Honors at 10:45 am.
