I WAS SO SORRY TO SEE HOMER’S OBIT ON THE COMPUTER LAST NIGHT. SINCE I DO NOT GET THE PAPER ANYMORE AND HAVE BEEN ILL MYSELF, I JUST GOT ON TO CHECK THE SIGHT AND FOUND HOMER’S OBIT.

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TOE THE JOHNSONFAMILY. I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH HOME AND LEE AND WE ALL GRADUATED TOGETHER IN1963. THE JOHNSON BOYS WERE GREAT PERSONALITIES AND GOOD FRIENDS.

GOD BLESS THE WHOLE FAMILY.

Bruce, my brother, please accept our deepest condolences. We are extremely grateful to have met your father and had an opportunity to get to know him; he exuded intelligence, warmth, love and light! Not to mention his swag and his beautiful smile; he would light up a room when he entered it! In Igbo culture, when a great KING passes on, they say, “Oke osisi adaala n’obodo,” which means “a great tree has fallen in the land.” It is a rare occurrence for great trees to fall. However, the fall is also not the end of the tree because its deep roots ensures it keeps sending out new sprouts. As Africans, in our culture, we take solace in knowing that death is not the end. We believe your father, Mr. Charles lives on. We are stronger now that such a great KING has transited to become one of our ancestors, watching over us. Again our sincere condolences to your entire family and all who loved Mr. Charles.

My dad worked with Homer at Ormet. I was always so happy to see Homer when he would visit or come to our basketball games. He had the best smile, warmest heart and a very kind and happy demeanor. I really wish I was able to see him more often but will always cherish those good memories. I’m very thankful my dad had such a good friend at work like Homer. <3 My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Homer and I worked many years together at Ormet. Although we didn’t cross paths often I always considered him my friend. He was always kind and generous and I am sure he will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.
