David Wayne Mellott, 62, of Jacobsburg, Ohio died Sunday October 31, 2021.
He was born March 8, 1959 in Bellaire, Ohio. A son of Harley Dale and Linda (Mayhugh) Mellott.
Dave was retired from Ohio Valley Coal #6 Mine where he served as a Longwall Shear Operator and retired on the Support crew, worked at Leona Middle School for 20 years where he served as OAPSE President for many years, was a member of the Moriah Masonic Lodge #105, Powhatan, and Osiris Shrine Hazen Lodge #251.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jody Mellott.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Lynda (Shook) Mellott of Jacobsburg, OH, three children, Brandi (Mike) Jarrett, of Shadyside, OH, Misty (Ben) Gonglik, of Bellaire, OH, and Chris Shook, of McMechen, WV, two brothers, Jimmy Mellott of Jacobsburg, OH and Jeff Mellott of Bellaire, OH, and a sister, Rhonda (Keith) Tennent, of Powhatan Pt., OH, five grandchildren, Lexi, Austin, Maci, Saedi and Kashton, and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Thursday November 4, 2021 at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory 3900 Central Ave. Shadyside, Ohio from 1-3pm & 7-9pm where the funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday November 5, 2021 with Pastor William Coker Jr. officiating. There will be a Masonic Service Thursday 7pm. Interment in Powhatan Cemetery.

So sorry to hear about Dave. I always enjoyed seeing him at auctions and flea markets. I’m sure he’ll be missed by many.
Dave was a good man, and great union brother. He took me under his wing in the coal mine and was a great friend. Prayers for the family.

Lynda, I am so sad to see that Dave is gone. He was truly a good man… I always enjoyed talking to him. I am in Florida now,so won’t be there but know that I will be saying a prayer for you.
