Don Schmidt, 87 of Shadyside, Ohio died Tuesday February 4, 2020 at his home.
He was born December 25, 1932 a son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Doran) Schmidt in Wheeling, WV.
Don was an Army Paratrooper veteran serving in the Koren War.
He worked for USWA as a steel worker and also worked as a coal miner.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters Kelly Schmidt and Sherry Varlas as well as a son Daniel Schmidt, He was also preceded by a grandson Michael Bulian.
He is survived by his wife Gerelene (McCormick) Schmidt of Shadyside, Ohio along with his children Jonathan Schmidt of Shadyside, Ohio, Beth (Greg) Robb of Kent, Ohio and Kimberly (Jeff) Prisner of Mozart, WV along with 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Ave, Shadyside, Ohio 43947 on Friday February 7, 2020 from 11 am until time of service at 1 pm with Pastor Gerald Blon officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
