Betty Ellen Norden, 92, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022; beloved wife of Joseph Norden, Sr. and Don Freeman;
mother of Joe Norden, Jr., Jeff (Kristin) Norden, and Jim Norden; grandmother of Justin
(Angie) Norden; great-grandmother of seven beautiful great-grandchildren; sister of the
late Robert (Jan) Campbell and the late Joseph (Celia) Campbell; daughter of the late
Dora Campbell and the late Joseph Francis Campbell.
Betty graduated Bellaire High School in 1947 and took a job at the Bellaire Enamel
Works. After marrying Joseph Norden, Sr. and raising their three sons, she went back to
work as a pharmacy tech at the Bellaire Clinic until her retirement.
No one was ever unimportant to Betty. She treated everyone with love and respect. Her
eternal walk with Christ was evident in everything she did, from the humble way she
carried herself to her kind and generous nature. A lifelong member of South Bellaire
United Methodist Church, she sang in a small, but mighty choir that tackled big musical
projects and made them sound beautiful. One of her favorite memories was a church
trip to explore the Holy Land in the 1980s.
Friends received for visitation Saturday, February 12th, from 10am-12pm at Bauknecht-
Altmeyer Funeral Home, 441 37th Street, Bellaire. Funeral service of Christian burial at
South Bellaire United Methodist Church at 1pm with Pastor James Lish officiating.
Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery to follow directly after
ceremony.

Dear Jo so very sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I remember her she was a very lovely lady. My heart goes out to you at this time, it can be so difficult but God will be with you. Love and prayers Brenda
Remember Betty from going into the clinic. We had the same name and always joked about it. She always had a smile on her face and a pleasant word for everyone. A fine Christian lady and May she test in peace !
It has been a while since I last visited my parents’ home on lower Franklin Street and stopped to speak with Betty and her family. I was the family’s paperboy with the Times-Leader and my brother was friends with one of the sons. I’m now back in the area, retired, and am a member of the same church where Betty sang in the choir. I hope to attend the funeral service at the church and pay my condolences to a family I will never forget. May God give the Norden family the peace and strength they need to get through this loss.

Whenever I would talk to her she would smile and listen

She was such a sweet lady! Many times I had the pleasure of her hospitality when I visited her house back in the days & she always had a smile for everyone! My thoughts & prayers go out to my friend Jeff & all the family! She will be missed on this earth! R.I.P. Ms.Betty! See you over there someday!
Our sympathy for your losing your mother Betty. She was always a kind and caring person, much like her mother Dora. May God bless.
Being best friends with her son, Joe, I was around her a lot in my younger years. Absolutely, one of the nicest people I have ever known. Even when Joe and I were in trouble, she always had a loving, forgiving heart. I’m grateful that I have experienced some of God’s love thru her. May God bless the entire Norden family.
