Surrounded by her loving family, Ellen Lee (Conaway) Clegg, 68, of Shadyside, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 9 at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, W.Va.
Born in Wheeling on July 4, 1954, Ellen was the daughter of the late Edmond Francis Conaway and Evelyn Lee (Maxwell) Conaway.
She had retired after a 34-year career at Blue Cross/Blue Shield and was working for Williams Lea in Wheeling at the time of her passing. A graduate of John Marshall High School and West Liberty University, Ellen was a member of the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church in Shadyside.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 39 years, Donald W. Clegg of Shadyside, and their children: Corey (Heather) Clegg of Wheeling; William (Miki) Clegg of Bridgeport, Ohio; Mackenzie (Josh) Borden of Warren, Ohio and Brittany (Liz) Clegg of Durham, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Conaway and Bonnie (Mike) Lake, both of Wheeling; three grandchildren, Karleigh Clegg, Aidan Clegg and Silas Borden; and one great-grandson, George Clegg.
The family extends a special note of thanks to the nurses and staff at Liza’s Place for their exemplary care and support during Ellen’s illness.
Friends will be received at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, Shadyside Chapel, 3900 Central Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 3 p.m. until time of
service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Randy Weaver officiating.

I am very saddend to hear of Ellen’s passing. I worked with Ellen in the 80’s at BCBS and we immediately became friends and have remained so for all the years. She was such a great person on all levels.

So sorry to hear of Ellen’s passing. I worked with Ellen for 15 years at BCBS and always enjoyed talking and kidding with her. I know she loved her family and that she will be missed by many. I’m glad I learned of her condition before she passed and that I had an opportunity to message with her before then.
