Evelyn E. Barker, 91 of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away Sunday September 18, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital.

Evelyn was born June 22, 1925 in Bridgeport, Ohio.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Verna (Rothfuss) Stilwell Nelson.

She was a member of the St. Clairsville Church of Christ. During her lifetime Evelyn worked in numerous jobs always giving 150 percent.

When she worked at the St. Clairsville Convenient Mart she was awarded the Deli Clerk of the year of all the Convenient Marts in the area.

Above all Evelyn loved her family. She looked forward to the holidays when she was surrounded by all her family members.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her Husband Joseph Barker Jr. and her sister Virginia Libertore.

She is survived by her son Joseph Barker III of St. Clairsville, OH, her daughter, Karen Sue (Richard) Yocke of Huntington, WV, a granddaughter Samantha of Winston Salem, NC and her sister Laura (Berthie) McMillian of Xenia, OH.

Family and friends will be received on September 29, 2016 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 204 West Main St. St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950 for a memorial gathering.

There will be a celebration of her life held at the American Legion Post 159 in St. Clairsville immediately after.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Belmont County Animal Shelter.

So saddened to hear this news. I will always think of my childhood and life on Hutchinson Drive when I think of Joe & Evelyn, Joey & Karen Sue. Seemed like we moved there together and grew up together. I have such great memories of your Mom. She was always kind, funny and beautiful to boot. Here’s to the old days and lasting memories.
