Evelyn Jean Davis, 88 of Shadyside, Ohio died Thursday, April 27, 2023 in her home. She was born November 12, 1934 in Glencoe, Ohio a daughter of the late William and Iva Groves Dawson. Evelyn was a member of the First Christian Church in Shadyside, Ohio, Order of Eastern Stars, Bellaire and Shadyside Chapter where she served as past Worth Matron, Companion of the Temple and Ladies of the Commandry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jean L. Davis, whom she married on June 19, 1954, her sisters, Thelma Palmer and Averetta Young and a brother, Carl Dawson. Surviving are her children, Deborah Jean Beekman of Cambridge, Ohio and James William Davis of Caribou, Maine and her brother, William Dawson of Cortland, Ohio. Also two granddaughters, Deborah Mishelle Porter and Melanie Jean (Tim) Barnes, six great grandchildren, Jayden, Skyler, Logan and Savanah Porter, Connor and Caleb Barnes and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, Shadyside Chapel 3900 Central Avenue on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where services will be held on Wednesday at 1 pm with Pastor Eric White officiating. Interment in the Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church by going to TMCFunding.com.

I am so saddened by Aunt Evelyn’s passing. She was kind, loving, and always there for her family. She and Uncle Jean were always there to help for celebrations and support in sad times. I will always miss her smile and laughter.i will miss you Aunt Evelyn.
