F. Iona Fitch 93, of Shadyside, OH died January 12, 2017 at the Shadyside Care Center.
Iona was born April 10, 1923 in Bellaire, Ohio the daughter of the late L. Leonard and Margaret Rahrbach Cummins.
She was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church, was active in various church activities, She enjoyed sewing, cooking family meals and all of her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 58 years, The Rev. Karl M. Fitch in 2000, brothers, Paul and Charles Cummins.
Surviving are her children, Jane (Charles) Turvey of Martins Ferry, OH, Mary Ann (Gary) Silverio of Bellaire, OH and Paul (Sherry) Fitch of Bethesda, OH, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received from 2-8pm Sunday at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday with the Reverend John Jackson officiating.
Interment in Davis Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio.

Had fond memories of Iona. Lived in the Belmont area with her and Karl. They were so gracious to us. Was so glad to hear from her each Christmas season when she shared thoughts about her family of which she was so proud. She exhibited what it means to be a Christian .

We pass the great paths of her and her husband during our ministry iand mission in the Ohio Valley area communities. She continued to serve God faithfully in her actions and encouragement to us all. Blessings on all who she blessed and loved.

My memory of your mother is an old one but I remember her and your dad so fondly. My first year in seminary which was 44 years ago I had the privilege of doing a rural ministry class with your dad, Fred Bell and John. At that time I learned a lot from them but just as much from the spouses and how the ministered together. It greatly influenced my role as a pastor and how to be a family in ministry. I will never forget your parents.

Iona and Karl were part of my first church in Morristown. They encouraged me in the ministry. Iona was so beautiful and sassy. I loved that about her. God bless you.

Iona was one in a million! I remember going home with Mary Ann from church on Sundays to their home in Shadyside and she and Karl were so very kind. She was a real lady and loved her so very much!
