Frank Charles Paliswat, 70, of Shadyside, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 en route to East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, on the 4th anniversary of his mother’s death.
Frank was born July 28, 1952 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV, a twin son of the late Frank (1922-2009) and Josephine Ann “Sissy” (Gmeindl) Paliswat (1923-2019). His dad was also a twin birth.
He was the grandson of the late Frank Paliswat (1889-1930) and Mary (Sobczyszyn) Yablonski Paliswat Sobush (1891-1964) and of Charles (1900-1972) and Josephine (Sable) Gmeindl (1902-1981).
He was a Catholic by faith. Frank loved fishing and hunting, traveling with his family, playing ball with his sons, and spending time with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. Frank was retired from maintenance at Monogram Metals in Byesville, Ohio. He worked there for 24 years. He formerly was employed at Phillips Stamping Co. in Bellaire, Wheeling Clinic, and Clevite in Lansing, and worked other jobs as well.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his son, Justin Michael “Lefty” Paliswat on September 26, 2021 whom he missed greatly; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John (1912-1977) and Stella Dorothy (Salva) Kurko (1916-1986); a nephew Kelly Lofton.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 43 1/2 years, Mary Catherine Elaine (Kurko) Paliswat, whom he married August 4, 1979 at St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire; his son, Lukas John “Luke” (Brea) Paliswat, his daughter-in-law, Shari Paliswat all of Shadyside; his twin, Jerry Joseph Paliswat (Anne Marie) of Canton, Ohio; his sister-in-law, Rose Ann (Danny) Lofton of Bellaire; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emma, and Matthew Liddle and Jozi, Olivia, and Walker Paliswat; his nephews, Brad, Eric, and Nicholas Paliswat, Ben and Zack Lofton; grandnephews and grandnieces, cousins, and many friends.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 12:30 until time of service at 2pm with Fr. Dan Heusel officiating at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Ave., Shadyside, Ohio. A small luncheon will follow at the Paliswat home. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
