Harry Paul Helms, 82 of Shadyside, Ohio died Saturday November 21, 2020 at the Continuing Healthcare of Shadyside Nursing Home.

He was born March 18, 1938 a son of the late Harry and Bernice (Younger) Helms in Dilles Bottom, OH.

He was a graduate of Shadyside High School class of 56. Harry was a U.S. Army veteran and a protestant by faith.

He worked for North American Coal, Powhatan Mines 5 & 6 and retired from the Y.W.C.A. where he worked in maintenance.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, a son Brent Helms, and his siblings, Dorothy Krodell, Dennis Helms, Linda Helms, Eleanor Cross, Alice Helms and Erma Oaks.

He is survived by his beloved wife Germaine (Schleyer) Helms, his son Jeffery Helms of Shadyside, and his sisters, Patty Wienzreid of Bellaire, Ohio, Mildred (Lonnie) Bennett of Moundsville, WV, Phyllis Porter of PA, Wilma Helms of Reseida , CA and Nancy Wilson of Shadyside, Ohio.

In addition he is survived by a grandson David Helms of Shadyside, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes no formal service will be held.

Final disposition will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements by the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Ave. Shadyside, Ohio 43947.

Sorry to here about Harry. Always talked to Harry when he came in to Kroger for new paper an donut. Such a sweetie . Prayers

Germaine and family, I am so sorry to hear of Harry’s passing. He was such a sweet soul. I was so glad he and Bill were in the same room at the care center. He enjoyed Reese cups and pop. May he Rest In Peace. RIP HARRY
