James L. “Jim” Minor, 84, of Jacobsburg, OH died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Liza’s Place of Valley Hospice, Wheeling, WV. He was born June 15, 1932 in Moundsville, WV; a son of the late Bessie Minor Hohman.
Jim retired after 20 years of service from the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict. He also was a retired employee of First Energy’s former R.E. Burger Power Plant, was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post # 521. Jim enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State Buckeyes, gardening and his beloved dog, Finn.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Francis Hohman.
Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years Margaret M. Mottle Minor; two daughters, Ruth A. DeFelice of Shadyside, OH and Ethel R. (Thomas) Brown of Pipe Creek; three grandchildren, Amanda DeCaria, Tony J. (Darrnell) DeFelice and Angela DeFelice; five great-grandchildren, Gianna, Isabella and Dario DeFelice, Alex and Tori DeCaria.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-8 pm at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Ave. Shadyside, OH where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am with Rev. Gregory Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
Full Military Honors will be conducted at 7 pm Tuesday in the funeral home by the Belmont County Council of American Legions.
