James R. Palmer, 59, passed away unexpectedly January 15, 2024 at WVU Wheeling Medical Park surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born August 29th, 1964 in Bellaire, Ohio.

Jimmy was employed more than 3 decades with Penzoil in Shadyside and was known by his nickname of “Roundo” to many.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Gennavee Palmer, father, Ronald E. Palmer, Sr., his brothers, Mark Palmer, Ronald Palmer, Jr., and an infant brother.

He is survived by the love of his life and long time companion, Kathy Halterman, niece, Crystal (Larry) Hicks of Pickerington, Ohio, nephew, Ronnie (Alyssa) Palmer of Syracuse, New York, and a son, Michael Gallaher of Jacobsburg, Ohio, great nephews, Caden , Logan and Landon Hicks, Jeremy and Bentley Palmer and one great niece, Adrianna Palmer, best friends, Rick Scotka and Gary Rogers and many other friends and family. He is also survived by Kathy’s family who became a big part of his family.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, January 20th, 10:00am-1:00pm at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, Ohio with services beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor David Benson officiating. Graveside service to follow at Powhatan Cemetery.

I used to run around all the time in high school with Roundo .. He use to always be putting a new engine in my trans am and then racing everybody in town and he never lost a race in the trans am .. and I have been living right next to Jimmy for the last 12 years and we had some long ass conversations over them 12 years, Roundo will be greatly missed may he RIP

Jim was one of the nicest, kindest and friendliest people that I had the pleasure of having for a friend! Such a terrible loss to his family and friends for sure! I will miss his texts on holidays! Roundo’s angel wings must be spectacular!🙏🙏

Sorry to hear about Roundo. He and his late brother Mark worked on our cars for many many years. The two got their remarkable ability to work on cars and engines from their dad, Ronnie. Ronnie fixed every kind of small engine we brought to him. He’ll be sadly missed by many.

I have known Roundo for many years. My whole family knew him and his brothers and mother Helen and Aunt Bonnie. He worked on my car many times and was such a nice guy. He will be greatly missed.
