Joseph Andrew Padyjasek, 79 of Shadyside, Ohio, died Monday August 10, 2015 at Wheeling Medical Park Hospital. He was born June 19, 1936 a son of the late Andrew and Helen (nee Ashman) Padyjasek in Florence, Ohio.
Joseph was a Navy veteran serving aboard the U.S.S. Glennon . He worked as a licensed stationary engineer for the Ormet Corp. for forty and one-half years. He was married to his wife Patricia on October 5, 1957 at St. Michaels of Bellaire by Fr. J.J. Lach. Joseph and Patricia met just three blocks from where they would make a home for their whole married life in Shadyside, Ohio.
Joseph was a member of the American Legion Post 52 of Bellaire, the Polish National Alliance Lodge 0 of Chicago and the D.A.V. of Bellaire. Preceded in death by his parents as well as a daughter Erin Elizabeth Padyjasek.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (nee Stemkowski) Padyjasek, his children Carla (Lawrence) Tedeschi of Westerville, Ohio, Peter Padyjasek of Shadyside, Ohio and John Padyjasek of Shadyside, Ohio. He is also survived by two sisters, Ann Carruthers of Wellington, Ohio and Carolyn Padyjasek of Medina, Ohio as well as two grand children Carissa and Christopher along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes – 3900 Central Ave Shadyside, Ohio 43947 on Wednesday August 12, 2015 from 5 until 9 pm and Thursday August 13 from 9 am until 9 pm with a vigil service at 7:30 pm.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 am Friday August 14, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church East 40th St. in Shadyside, Ohio with Fr. Samuel Saprano officiating. Burial with full military honors by the Belmont County Veterans Association will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bellaire, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Prayer upon prayer. I knew Joe only during one of Erin’s OSU hospital stays and have never forgotten him. An outstanding veteran, husband, father, grandfather, brother, provider, friend and good Catholic…much to admire. Wishing all strength and sympathy.
We send our condolences to the entire family. God has rewarded Joe with his mercy, free from pain and has given him the power of protecting over the family members, from above. Bless you all.
