Kathy always had a smile and a great attitude. I was never a student of hers, but I remember her family from church. Jean and Mrs. Chirpas, I know you will miss her, but she’s watching over you all. Take care of each other…(I grew up on 35th & Franklin and worked at Murphy’s.)

Ms. Chiapas was one of the best teachers Bellaire Schools had. I had the privilege of knowing her as a parent, PTA member, later a coworker & always a friend. On every level she was wonderful. She will be missed! May her memory always be a blessing to all who knew her.

I fondly remember Kathy as a teacher at West Bellaire where I was a student and later as a colleague. She was dedicated to her students and the community. Sending prayers of comfort to Alice and the Chirpas family. Rest In Peace.

My kindergarten teacher, and then a 3rd grade teacher of mine when I had the privilege of being Bellaire ES’s principal for 5 years. I loved her candidness and honesty and the devotion to her students and fellow staff members.

To Cathy’s family and friends. Our deepest sympathies. The Big Reds community have lost a true supporter and a solid educator. On more than one occasion I requested Cathy’s opinion and knew I would receive an honest answer -like it or not.Rest in peace, Regis Woods ,retired Superintendent
