Mary Jane Rankin, 88, of Jacobsburg, OH died Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Shadyside Care Center. She was born January 22, 1928 in Dover, OH a daughter of the late John and Emma Berger Koonce.
Mary Jane was a homemaker, a member of Belmont United Presbyterian Church and Order of Eastern Star Captina Chapter #489.
Mary Jane and her late husband built their house with their bare hands turning it into a loving home for their family. She enjoyed playing Bunco, camping, reading, crocheting. She learned to drive just before her 40th birthday. She loved chocolate, orange creamsicles and baking, but most of all, her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd M. Rankin in October of 1993; a son, Dennis Rankin; two sisters, Marge Givens and Doris Wiese.
Surviving are her children, Rev. Gary (Brenda) Rankin of Bloomington, MD., Cindy (Dennis) Anuskewic of St. Clairsville, OH., Jeffrey (Debra) Rankin, Sr. of Jacobsburg, Melanie (Charles) Reed of Bellaire, OH., and Sandy (Mike) Frey of Sunbury, OH; two brothers, David (Dorothy) Koonce of Shadyside, OH and Donald (Dorothy) Koonce of Jacobsburg; 13 grandchildren, Susan (Larry) Downing, Deborah Rankin, Holly Vankirk, Beverly Patrone, Justin Hensel, Steven (Jamie) Anuskewic, Daniel (Hope) Anuskewic, Jeffrey (Ashley) Rankin, Jr., Joey Rankin, Michael Reed, Jason Reed, Amanda Frey and Emily Frey; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2-8 pm at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am with Pastor Pete Walburn officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bellaire.
O.E.S services 7 pm Monday in the funeral home.
