Mary Margaret Burke, 91, of St. Clairsville, OH died Thursday January 21, 2016 at her home. She was born February 17, 1924 in Wellsburg, WV a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Wolf Kress.
Mary was a retired custodian for the Louisville Public School System and a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Catholic Women’s Club, Seniors Club. Mary enjoyed taking care of her husband, her children, working outside, playing bingo and cooking at the church. She was especially fond of smorgasbords.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee B. Burke; a son, Lawrence J. Burke; a brother, Albert J. Kress; a sister, Mildred M. Elcesser and her son-in-law, Dan Spear.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Spear of St. Clairsville and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 9:30 am to 12 pm at Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory 204 West Main Street St. Clairsville.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 12 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Clairsville with Fr. Thomas Chillog as celebrant. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg.
