Michael Tobin Ritz, 52, of Shadyside, OH passed away on Saturday October 7th, 2023 at UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
He was born on November 7th, 1970 in Wheeling, WV to the late Vivian (Brumbach) and Richard Ritz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Ritz.
Michael is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Melanie (Matesick) Ritz; a step son, Adam Bier; 2 brothers, Ted & Christopher Ritz and 3 nephews, Anthony (Corinna), Joseph and Douglas Ritz.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, OH 43947 on Thursday October 12th from 4 to 8 PM and on Friday October 13th from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM with Rev. James Hoff officiating.
Interment will follow at Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, OH.

I am so sad to hear of Mike’s passing. He always had a kind and gentle nature. I have many wonderful memories of him, Rome, and Rico at my Aunt Ruth’s home. We loved to talk about science. He was absolutely brilliant. Another great soul gone too soon. Praying for peace and comfort.

Fellow SHS Class of ’89 alum, you were a genuinely good guy and friend! A class act all the way! I have some good memories, though Mike beating me in chess in the school S.M.A.R.T. program isn’t one of them!
My heart is heavy for not just having lost another friend, but for having lost another classmate.

Saddened to hear of Mike’s passing. He was a fellow SHS classmate and friend. I don’t think I have ever met anyone as intelligent as Mike. Gosh was he smart! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Always smiling and always kind. None other like him. Sending my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
Memories of our adolescence still burn brightly, Mike. In our merry band of pirates you were the smartest of us, and the kindest. You always had a good book recommendation and our conversations were always meaningful. Many things you said I will never forget.
