Nancy Jayne Powell, 66, of Shadyside, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
She was born on August 29, 1956 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late James Fulton and Violet (Wrubleski) Fulton.
She was Catholic by faith and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Powell, daughter, Courtney Powell, grandson, Omari, granddaughters, Harper and Harmony, sisters, Barbara McKeen and Amy Felton, brother, Jimmy Fulton, and her best friend, Celia Farver.
Nancy retired as a secretary from Shadyside High School. Her commitment to her role went beyond mere duties; she approached each day with a genuine passion for supporting the students and staff, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew her. She was known as “Mama Powell” by the students that she considered “bonus kids” and embraced them wholeheartedly, offering guidance, support, and endless compassion.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass for Nancy on Saturday, August 26, at 1:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio with Father Daniel Heusel as celebrant.
