To the family of Nick Zanke. Nick and his family lived several streets up from me growing up in Bellaire. His sister, Patty, and I were in the same class at SJC. Nick Zanke was a Mans Man. He was a “tough guy” but he was a great guy. One heck of a football player at St. John’s and respected by all. I left the valley decades ago but you do not forget a Nick Zanke. My guess is he was one awesome family man and a great guy to work with. I hope his family keeps fond memories of their “one of a kind” Patriarch–NICK ZANKE. Again, Heaven just became an even better house of the Lord. With respect, Mark Striebich

Condolences to Nick’s family. Nick & I went to school together at St. Anthony’s and St. John’s. At St. Anthony’s Nick lived on Kirkwood Height, so in order to get to football practice on time, he would come to my house in Bridgeport and change into our football gear and walk to Perkins Field for practice. I remember being late for practice once and we had to run laps because we had to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Yankees in game 7 of the 1960 World Series. A good friend for many years.
