Patricia I. Bates, 80 of Bellaire, Ohio died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She was born September 2, 1938 in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Cecelia M. Lyden Wheeler.
Pat was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio, Catholic Womens Club and the Catch the Spirit Faith Group.
Surviving are her husband, Roland D. “Bud” Bates,whom she married on November 2, 1959; her daughters, Sheila (John) Blackmore of Bellaire, Ohio, Erin (Steve) Whorton of Bridgeport, Ohio and Patricia (Ron) Martos of Washington, Pennsylvania, two sisters, Cecilia McMillen of Bellaire, Ohio and Maureen (George) Predragovich of Martins Ferry, Ohio and three brothers, Ray Wheeler of Woodbury, Minnesota, Bill (Donna) Wheeler of Shadyside, Ohio and Joe (Julia) Wheeler of Rayland, Ohio and her dear friend, Carol Troll of St. Clairsville, Ohio. Also five grandchildren, Jeremiah Blackmore, Cecelia Blackmore, Kyle Whorton, Braden Martos and Cody Martos and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 am at the St. John Catholic Church, Bellaire, Ohio with Fr. Daniel Heusel, as Celebrant. Interment in the Mt Calvary Cemetery in Bellaire, Ohio.
