Richard D. “Dick” Dyer, Sr. 87 of Shadyside, Ohio formerly of Bellaire, Ohio died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Shadyside Care Center in Shadyside, Ohio.
He was born October 11, 1929 in Shadyside, Ohio a son of the late Harrison and Maude Rose Dyer.
Dick was a retired contractor, a member of the Bellaire Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder for forty years, church janitor, Church Mens Club and Sunday School Superintendent for fourteen years, American Legion Post 52 and the Kiwanis Club. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Lee McCombs Dyer on October 20, 2016, one son Daniel Dyer, two sisters, Elizabeth Holloway and Pearl Latos, three brothers, Harrison, Jr., John and Ted Dyer and two stepsons, Brian and Ronald Shunk.
Surviving are his brother, Rev. James (Frances) Dyer of Galion, Ohio, one stepdaughter, Sherry Shunk of Tucson, Arizona, his children, Richard (Linda) Dyer, Jr. of Santa Anna, California, Darren Dyer of Shadyside, Ohio, Christina (Tim) Gable of Marion, Ohio and Michelle (Darin) Darrah of Shadyside, Ohio. Also fourteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm and Friday from 9 am until time of services at 10 am with Pastor Pete Walburn officiating. Interment in the Davis Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio with Full Military Honors by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
