Roberta M. “Bertie” Walker, 80 of Shadyside, Ohio formerly of Bellaire, Ohio died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Shadyside Care Center.

She was born July 25, 1937 in Bellaire, Ohio a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Woods Wilkes.

Bertie was a retired employee of the Bellaire School District and a Methodist by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade M. Walker on December 12, 2008 and her brother, John Wilkes and her sister-in-law, Shirley Wilkes.

Surviving are her three nieces, Kim Durham and Alicia (Stephen) Bennett both of Columbus, Ohio and Danielle Wilkes of Bellaire, Ohio, her nephew, Jaime (Trisha) Wilkes of Bellaire, Ohio, her great nieces, Stephenie and Alissa Bennett and La’neja Stokes. Also her stepsons, Bobbie (Farrah) Smith and Raymond (Karen) Walker both of Detroit, Michigan and several step grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am with Rev. Shirley Pierre officiating. Interment in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bellaire, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellaire Alumni Association be going to “TMCFunding.com”.

May your wonderful memories of Roberta comfort you at this difficult time. She certainly was a very kind and caring person. Everyone who ever worked at Bellaire High School knew her and enjoyed her conversations. May God Bless each of you.

So very sorry for this loss. Bertie was a best friend to my MOM. Started out together in the high school cafeteria. Remained friends long after .

Loved Bertie, was my Moms best friend from working at high school cafeteria. Wonderful , good hearted person. She’s now with Wade.
