Ronald M. Watkins, 78, of St. Clairsville, OH, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born October 9, 1938 in Paden City, WV, a son of the late Kenneth Watkins and Geneva “Peg” Patterson Watkins-Freeland.
Ron was a retired coal miner with Consolidated Coal Co. having built and operated the Gem of Egypt and later operator of the Silver Spade.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Orin Leon “Sonny” Watkins; a grandson, Matthew Hamilton; and several aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Patricia “Pam” Morgan Watkins of St. Clairsville; a son, Mark (Theresa) Watkins of St. Clairsville; two daughters, Amy Watkins of St. Clairsville and Brenda (Michael) Navolio of Darlington, PA; a sister, Shirley Smith of Newell, WV; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-8 pm at Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory 204 West Main Street St. Clairsville where funeral services will be held Friday at 11am with Rev. Laurie Armstrong and Rev. Adam Davis officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
