Rudy “Jim” Tonkovich, 90, of Shadyside, Ohio, died Monday January 7,2019 at the Continuing Healthcare of Shadyside, OH.

Jim was born February 12, 1928 in Jacobsburg, Ohio a son of the late Michael and Tereza Lipscoak (Lepo) Tonkovich.

He was retired from the Laborers Local #1149 Wheeling, WV. He was a Seaman 1st class with the United States Navy on the USS LST-1122.

Preceding him in death was his wife, JoAnn Applegarth Tonkovich, a sister Ann Hess, and a brother, Mike Tonkovich Jr.

Surviving are a daughter, Terry (Denny) Huffman of Shadyside, OH., and a son, Pete (Missie) Tonkovich of Dexter City, OH, his former wife, June Jeffers Tonkovich of Shadyside, and his nephew, Bill and Charlotte Hess of Jacobsburg, OH whom the family thanks for their longtime devotion and caring during his illness. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Thursday at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, Ohio from 11am until time of funeral service at 1pm with Pastor Sheila Dunn officiating.

Burial follows in Powhatan Cemetery.
