Suann Smith Andes, 62, died unexpectedly at her Shadyside home on December 8, 2022, leaving behind a cadre of family and friends who loved her.
Suann’s zest for life was evident in all that she did. She never hesitated to jump into a new adventure. Suann cherished her friendships, especially those from childhood. Curious by nature, Suann marveled at every plant, animal, and insect. She adored cats and delighted in the antics of Marcus and Monty, the two that shared her home. Suann loved plants, especially flowers, and gathered seeds and cuttings to share with others.
When Suann met Phil Andes, it was clear they were well-suited. Both were adventurous and fun-loving, so few were surprised when they married in a Las Vegas ceremony officiated by “Elvis.” Enthusiastic foodies, they enjoyed introducing new cuisine to friends and family in the home they created together.
Family and friends were important and their door was always open. They were “aunt and uncle” to the younger generation of cousins and “grandparents” to neighborhood children.
Born August 27, 1960, Suann was the daughter of the late Carl B. and Joann Evans Smith of Barnesville. A graduate of Barnesville High School, she earned a degree from Robert Morse College. Suann worked in various administrative and sales positions in the Pittsburgh area before her marriage.
In addition to her parents, Suann was preceded in death by her husband, Philip J. Andes, and father-in-law, Philip F. Andes. She is survived by her in-laws, Betty E. Andes, Nancy Andes, Jack Davis, extended family members, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
