Theresa Catherine Velkovich,72, of Bridgeport, OH passed away on Tuesday evening, February 22, 2022 at Wheeling Hospital.
She was born on May 23, 1949, in Bellaire, OH as the first child of the late Joseph and Minnie (DeGenova) Velkovich.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Velkovich.
Theresa leaves behind her sister, and best friend, Rose Smith of Bridgeport, OH; one sister-in-law, Joy (Green) Velkovich of Bridgeport, OH, a nephew, RJ (Marcy) Smith of Reston, VA; two nieces, Amy (Michael) Sonk of New Albany, OH, Tiffany (Tyler) Wolfe of Martins Ferry, OH; six great nieces and great nephews, Audrey, Lola, Jackson, Lincoln, Landen and Addison; many extended family and friends; and her beloved sweet, furry friend, Bandit!
Theresa graduated in 1967 from St. John Central High School, Bellaire, OH. After high school, she graduated from Scotts School of Cosmetology and owned her own beauty shop for 15 years in Bridgeport. She enjoyed the many years she worked at The Coffee Shop in Bridgeport, where she met a lifelong number of friends. When she finally retired, it was from Lansing Gardens Apartments.
Theresa was a huge Steelers Fan, she loved watching all kinds of sports, especially basketball. She cheered for any team from Pittsburgh and always supported the local high school teams. She loved making craft projects, crocheting blankets, doing plastic canvas, reading and spending time with her family and great nieces and great nephews, that she absolutely adored! She will be sadly missed by all her family, friends and loved ones!
Our family would like to express our deepest appreciation to Valley Hospice Care and all the staff at Wheeling Hospital for making Theresa’s final days as comfortable and as peaceful as possible.
Arrangements by Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 441 37th Street Bellaire, OH. There will be a public Funeral Mass at the St. John Catholic Church, Bellaire, OH on Tuesday March 1st at 10:00 am with Fr. Dan Heusel officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Heartbroken to hear of Theresa’s passing. Many fond memories of fun times as neighbors & friends on Noble Street too many years ago. Theresa was fun, sweet and someone who loved people. Love and prayers for her & her family.
