William “Bill” Frank Krol, Sr., 79, of Bellaire, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Wheeling Hospital-WVU Medicine.
Bill was born November 8, 1943 in Martins Ferry, Ohio the son of the late William L. and Jessie (Purkoski) Krol.
He graduated from Warren Consolidated High class of 1960. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1964, where he was an E-3 Corporal as a Jet Engine Mechanic. After the Marines, he became a coal miner and worked at #4 Coal Mine. He was member in good standing of the United Mine Workers of America.
In his younger years, he was an avid fisherman and loved camping, trapping, and hunting. In recent days, Bill enjoyed feeding the birds, teaching his dog, Beaumont, tricks and giving him treats, reading biographies, tinkering around the house, taking care of his beloved wife, Betty, and gardening. At the beginning of the season he would pot the seeds, patiently nurturing them under grow lights until they were healthy enough to plant in his garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William “Billy” Frank Krol, Jr., and brother, Gregory Krol.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Cicogna) Krol, of Bellaire, Ohio; children, Bret (Amy) Krol, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Bethany White of Follansbee, West Virginia; grandchildren, Dylan Krol, Cody Krol, Kayla Krol, Logan White; great-grandchildren, Mason Krol, Caiden Krol; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Per the wishes of Bill, there will be no visitation. Arrangements are entrusted to Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio 43906.

I am so sorry to just learn of Bill’s passing. Steve and I truly admired him and we send our condolences and care to Betty and the family. He and Steve enjoyed their years of working together.
