William H. “Butch” Thatcher, Jr., 73 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on August 4, 1942 a son of the late William H. and Florence Risdon Thatcher.
Butch was a retired employee of the First Energy Corporation’s R. E. Burger Power Station at Dilles Bottom, Ohio and a US Marine Corps veteran.
He had a wonderful sense of human, an avid Cleveland Browns fan and an extremely hardworker. Butch was a loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and uncle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose S. Evans Thatcher on July 11, 2006.
Surviving are his children, Ashley N. (Ryan) Schreiner of Powhatan Point, Ohio and Frank W. (Latonna) Thatcher of Bridgeport, Ohio, his sister Susan (Bill) Benda and his brother John Thatcher both of Bellaire, Ohio. Also five grandchildren, Hannah Rose Schreiner, Kaylee Ryanne Schreiner, Lacey Greenlee, Trevor Garrison, Julia Williams and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Thursday from 10 am until time of services at 11 am with Pastor Donald Cordery officiating. Interment in the Belmont County Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Clairsville, Ohio at the convenience of the family.
