Wilma M. (McAllister) Nelson, 97, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Wheeling Hospital-WVU Medicine in Wheeling, WV.
She was born September 29, 1925 in Bellaire, OH a daughter of the late Vera (Kirkland) McAllister and Harry McAllister.
Wilma was a member of the Rock Hill Presbyterian Church, Bellaire, OH where she had served as the Choir Director for many years. She was a retired Secretary at the Neffs Elementary School and a former Bookkeeper for Hanna Coal Co. Along with her love of music she was an avid reader of all genres, cookbooks, maps, histories, fiction, and anything on The British Royals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 57 years, Donald E. Nelson; a daughter, Eileen Taylor; a brother, Robert McAllister; and a sister, Lois Rogers.
Surviving are her Son, Jeff (Susan) Nelson of Bellaire; Sister, Phyllis Coleman of Florida; Grandson, Jeff Nelson, Jr.; Granddaughter, Amanda Rossbach; Great-grandchildren, Austin Roe, RB Roe, Connar Rossbach; and several Nieces and Nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, OH 43906 on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. then on Wednesday May 3,2023 at the Rock Hill Presbyterian Church, Bellaire, OH from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am Church with Rev. Reverend David Demarest officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery Bellaire,OH.

Your family is in our prayers. Wilma will be missed by all who knew her. She was the secretary at my grade school (Neffs) and the choir director at the church (Rock Hill Presbyterian) which I grew up in. I know she will be missed as a mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. May the Lord comfort all during grievance of a wonderful Christian lady who lived a long and fulfilling life.
So sad to hear of Wilma’s passing. What a dedicated lady. Sunday mornings she would lead the Sunday School attendees in a Guidepost devotional. Of course, for Church services she directed the choir. I remember going to her house in June to pick up “home grown” strawberries. And Don was always at her side. What a striking couple they made. Miss those days very much. My condolences go out to all the family including Wilma’s sister, Phyllis Coleman.
