Zolar “Sonny” Albert Marus, 78, of Clarington, Ohio died Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville, West Virginia.
He was born December 19, 1943 in Wheeling, West Virginia, a son of the late Zolar Marus and Betty Gray Atkins.
Sonny was Catholic by faith and a retired operator at AEP and Windsor Coal Mine. He was an Army Veteran who was a member of the Powhatan American Legion Post #228.
Sonny is survived by his wife; Sarah Marus of Clarington, sister; Harlene (Jim) Shook of North Carolina; beloved dogs; Bubby and Patches.
The family wishes to thank four special caregivers Vicki, Danyel, Randa, and Robbie.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory 186 Main St., Powhatan Point, Ohio on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 10:00 am until time of Funeral service at 12:00 pm with Fr. Daniel Heusel as celebrant. Full military honors to be conducted by Powhatan American Legion Post #228. Interment will follow at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery in Wellsburg, West Virginia.
